What you can do with Hayloft

Choose a character, set the scene, and begin a fictional conversation. Hayloft is designed for roleplay rather than a one-off question-and-answer exchange, so a scene can develop across multiple turns.

You can begin from an existing character, build one yourself, or start with a generated concept and refine it before you chat.

Character setup can include a name, personality, backstory, style, scenario, and opening message. A generated starting point is still yours to review and edit: it is a shortcut for getting from an idea to a usable character, not a replacement for your choices.

Openers can be regenerated or rewritten when you want a different first scene. Read the character-creation guide for the practical workflow.

Hayloft uses scene context and memory tools to help a roleplay stay oriented as it grows. You can save important details, make a lore correction when the story drifts, and return to what has already happened instead of starting from zero every time.

AI can still make mistakes, so memory tools are there to give you more control—not to promise perfect recall. See memory and continuity for a clear explanation of those controls.

When a response is not quite right, you can regenerate it, compare another variant, edit a message, or rewind to an earlier point. These controls make it possible to change direction while keeping the rest of the scene available as context.
