Getting started with Hayloft

You can use Hayloft on the web or download the mobile app. Create an account, complete the age gate, and keep access to the email address connected to the account. That makes it easier to recover access or contact support later.

Browse available characters when you want to jump into a scene quickly. If you have a specific idea, create a character yourself or use generation to turn a name, trope, fandom idea, or scene premise into a starting draft.

Before you start, read the character description and opener. They establish the setting, relationship, and tone that the conversation will use as its starting point.

You are not locked into the first version of a scene. Edit a character or opening when the setup needs to be more specific, or regenerate the opener with a different direction. A little context up front—who you are, where the scene begins, and the kind of dynamic you want—usually gives the story a clearer foundation.

Write in character, narrate an action, or give a short direction. If a response misses the tone or story beat you wanted, use a variant, edit, rewind, or lore fix instead of trying to explain the entire story again in a new message.

As a story grows, pin the details that should remain important and correct lore when a scene has drifted. These tools help keep the next part of the story grounded in what has already happened; they are especially useful for long-running scenes.
